Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE)
The Certified Reliability Engineer is a professional who understands the principles of performance evaluation and
prediction to improve product/systems safety, reliability and maintainability. This body of knowledge (BOK) and
applied technologies include, but are not limited to, design review and control; prediction, estimation, and
apportionment methodology; failure mode effects and analysis; the planning, operation and analysis of reliability
testing and field failures, including mathematical modeling; understanding human factors in reliability; and the ability
to develop and administer reliability information systems for failure analysis, design and performance improvement
and reliability program management over the entire product life cycle.

Who should become CRE certified?
This material is designed to aid reliability engineers or individuals looking to achieve their CRE certification. Attendees
of this course should have some prior knowledge of statistics and reliability engineering as this course is designed as a
review of the subject areas needed for the CRE exam.
CRE Concepts and Principles
▪ Understand the terminology, concepts, underlying mathematical functions, and procedures relating to the ASQ
Body of Knowledge for the Certified Calibration Technician exam.
▪ Become familiar with questions similar to those on the ASQ CCT exam.
CRE Exam Preparation Course Info
Course length is 26 hours.
Note: This class is designed for experienced auditors and others seeking preparation for taking the CQA exam.
It is not intended as a beginner’s basic auditing class. The Certified Quality Auditor Refresher training,
developed and delivered by the ASQ Audit Division, is a two and a half day course designed and taught
to help experienced auditors become better prepared for the CQA exam.
